What in truth is the uk decree on the wearing of religious items within institution?
For my citizenship coursework i have to write an essay on the wearing of religious items / dress in conservatory. We have a pathetic excuse for a source booklet to work from but i cannot find anywhere that in truth states what the UK law is?

I am not sure but in my personal opinion turbans should be prevented from schools/nightclubs,if we arent allowed baseball caps why on earth should they own turbans which god says that they NEEEED to wer them n why its stupid. And them face veil things should not be allowed as they stow identity. Sorry i could not be of help.

The policies of individual school as to jewellery, dress and religious items is very other left to the discretion and good sense of the arts school.
The law does not get involved, although the imperative has said that if a pupil insists on wearing a religious headdress in noncompliance of the school code, it is not discriminatory of the school to insist it is removed.

like already said, at hand is no such law [that I am aware of] but it really boils down to what each conservatory has in place.............for instance at the university I taught at, when your parents applied to have you attend they awfully act of applying and you being standard implied that you would follow ALL the rules..........
once you began at the school again you would sign, your parents would sign and the college would sign a contract stating that you had read and knew and ACCEPTED the rules laid out within the hand book, dress code would be fully covered..so when a student would state that I am going to wear such and such and you have to allow it lower than "express my religious freedom" the child would be shown the place they and their parents had signed that stated that such and such was disallowed............
Basically the school has the final word but within this day and age we have pretty much get ALL those avenues sewn up so that no one can actually wear anything outside of the exact academy uniform.
It is at every school's discretion as to what students may wear, whether this is because of religious observation or not. However, schools are required to respect and accommodate students observe a religion. Rosary beads are usually not permitted in non-religious specific school, however, they would typically be permitted in catholic schools. Most school allow muslim girls to wear the headscarf, but not the veil. Even a muslim school that I know does not permit girls to wear the full blown veil. In actual response to your quiz, there is no SPECIFIC uk law on school permitting students to wear religious items.
